Lucinda’s Fringe World Wrap Up
Wow! What an incredible Fringe World season. It was a thrill to perform in a number of shows this year, including:
Symphonies of Sensuality
The brand new Symphonies of Sensuality show impressed sold out crowds at The Ellington Jazz Club and the Fremantle Town Hall, earning a great review from TheMusic.com.au too. The show set neo and classic burlesque, poi and bellydance exclusively to classical music, and gave me a chance to have some fun on the violin and piano too. We had great audiences who were all too willing to get involved, whether it be singing along or participating in some of the performers’ unique acts. The show featured LVC cast as well as special guests Amy Darling (London) and Mr Boylesque Australia Trash Valentine!
Alice in Wonderland: Off With his Head!
The smash hit of 2016’s Fringe World festival returned in 2017, this time at the Sunset Veranda pop up big top in Scarborough, part of the Summerset Arts Festival. With a fresh, summery twist, the cast of last year’s production returned with a few special guests, continuing the epic adventure of Alice, the accident-prone roadie. It was fun to dust off the crown and put my grumpy pants on as I played the part of the Red King – plus, Fringe isn’t really Fringe without an epic rap battle.
An Absolute Idiot’s Guide to Art
This year I performed a solo show – confusing and infuriating reviewers who struggled to classify it, the show was either an educational comedy show, or a comedic art lecture. ArtsHub wrote a great review describing this mishmash of art history, analysis, sassy commentary and passionate opinion. The show will be touring to Busselton Fringe in March, so if you missed out and fancy a nice weekend away, come down and see it!
